OUR STORY
VinMabel Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) Nonprofit Charitable Organization Incorporated in the State of Michigan, with seed capital from Princess Kennedy-Okaka, a philanthropist.
This foundation was founded in memory of Princess’ mother, Ezenwanyi Mabel Nonye Okpaladinigwe, who died in 2002 after a minor surgery at the age of 54. Princess lost her mother at an early age of 54 years to a preventable, treatable health disorder. Her mother passed on due to lack of awareness and access to good medical care and medication.
Her mother, popularly known as Ogbuefi Ezenwanyi, was an achiever & an entrepreneur, and was a determined, focused hard worker and leader. Ogbuefi Ezenwanyi was not only a caring person, she was also a peace setter, was generous, charitable to families, friends, and the needy. She was a courageous fighter and social crusader who believed in justice, equity, and fairness. She touched the lives of the downtrodden and the defenseless in the community. She was the backbone of their family.
Ezenwanyi Mabel was blessed with her father, Chief Ezeanyim Vincent Okpaladinigwe, a kind-hearted and supportive husband who was a source of strength and encouragement to her all the years of their marriage and life together. Princess always said that her mother was her role model; she succeeded in managing both her home-front and business well.
Since her mom’s exit from our world, people have continued to help and support Ezenwanyi Mabel’s family, in return of her accomplishments in the community. Princess vowed to spend her time, funds, and knowledge to ensure that what happened to her mother early in her life does not repeat itself in the lives of other women. Princess Okaka’s visits to some of the health centers in the rural areas of Nigeria also triggers her interest and created big burden on her to make this difference.
Her desire was to transform dilapidated health centers into health care centers, to ensure the less privileged people have health insurance to promote good health and life, to provide food and clothing and to financially empower indigents in the community to start petty trading. Princess also aims to help them financially to start up petty trading.
She looks at all women as part of members of a single, global community where everyone has the opportunity to build a life of dignity. Working with local leaders to promote good health and eradicate poverty is critical to her mission.
VinMabel Foundation’s mission is to help individuals and families in need to thrive and achieve a better quality of life by bringing people and organizations who are passionate about making a difference in the community.
